AIMS & OBJECTIVES

This course aims to improve students’ public speaking abilities in English through an analysis of different oral communication models, styles, and practical speaking opportunities. The course provides a range of communication theories, vocabulary, and contexts; all of these are aimed at increasing confidence and communicative competence in English. The main focus is to increase students’ ability to speak in any situation.

Recognise, define, and interpret rhetorical devices and figures of speech commonly found in public speaking;

Contribute effectively to group discussions analysing and evaluating provided speeches;

Plan, prepare and deliver speeches in given situations for specific audiences using appropriate oratory devices;

Recognise and apply specifically structured patterns of organisation often used in public speaking.
